Accelerating high performance computing with randomized and mixed-precision algorithms

We present an overview of the main algorithmic issues in perspective of the Exascale supercomputers that are expected to appear in the early 2020's. We illustrate our research with two classes of algorithms that can enhance HPC calculations. First we explain how randomization can accelerate the solution of linear systems while providing a satisfying accuracy. Then we describe how mixed precision algorithms can provide faster runtime and reduce power consumption.
